My name is Katie Hampton, and I sing. I'm here to help complete a picture - a film score, an album, a live performance. Whether it's a classical choir, pop background vocals, or an indie rock band, I work to sight-read, harmonize, blend, and perform the very best I can.
Here's how I got here:
Born in LA
Raised by a composer and costume designer
Got a Jazz Perf. degree from
Auditioned for Sergio Mendes in 2007, got the gig
Moved back to LA, been stuck in traffic ever since!
A few career highlights:
Recording classical choir vocals for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Performing at the Sydney Opera House with Sergio Mendes
Singing with Los Robles Master Chorale at the Walt Disney Concert Hall under the direction of John Adams
Making an EP with my dad
About my voice:
Low note: C3
High belt note: D5, high falsetto note: B5
Genre strengths: classical choral (Alto II up to Soprano II), pop, indie, jazz, Brazilian, gospel choir (Alto)
On a regular basis I use
this and this
to track my own vocals for demos, auditions, and remote sessions. Sometimes that happens when I'm in the middle of nowhere at Lake Powell (see Right).

Composers, artists, songwriters, musical directors, vocal contractors -
contributing to their vision is my job. Check out my Listen and Watch pages.
If you are one of these people and think I’d be a good fit for your project, contact me for a demo or tell me when and where to be. And if I’m not quite the right fit, I can’t wait to recommend some of the brilliant LA singers we have in our town.
Released in 2013, Deep in the Rust is an EP created by Katie and her dad, Steve Hampton. Independently produced, it evolved out of a mutual love of a raw, indie aesthetic and acoustic instrumentation.
