Katie Hampton is a vocalist for film, television, and live performance.
Born in Los Angeles and raised by a composer dad and costume designer mom, Katie developed an early love for recording studios and sequins. She studied jazz in Montreal at McGill University, where she earned her Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance. After joining Sergio Mendes' band as one of the lead singers in 2008, Katie moved back to LA and has been touring, session singing, and participating in bands and choirs ever since. She is currently working towards a Master of Music degree from Cal State Northridge in Voice.
A few highlights along the way:
Recording classical choir vocals for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Performing at the Sydney Opera House with Sergio Mendes
Singing with Los Robles Master Chorale at the Walt Disney Concert Hall under the direction of John Adams
Making an EP with her dad
On a regular basis Katie uses
this and this
to track her own vocals for demos, auditions, and remote sessions in a vocal booth at home (#spousecovidproject).
(or this if
she's traveling; maybe that'll happen again one day)
Released in 2013, Deep in the Rust is an EP created by Katie and her dad, Steve Hampton. Independently produced, it evolved out of a mutual love of a raw, indie aesthetic and acoustic instrumentation.
